Abstract: Automated planning, also known as AI planning, is a branch of Artificial Intelligence (AI) that deals with the problem of finding a feasible sequence of actions needed to achieve a set of goals. This session introduces two of the main variations of the problem, classical and numerical planning, both of which are related to planning and scheduling problems in Operations Research (OR). The talk will focus on the main characteristics of the problems, their challenges, and some of the methodologies used to overcome them, including various heuristic search strategies.

Snacks and refreshments will be provided. Hope to see you there!
